I have never used a WIKI before so I am looking forward to the workshop to find out ways we could use this to support our teaching.

I guess that one of the most useful features of a WIKI is the fact that you can see all of the versions, who has done what, and go back to earlier versions if needed.
I assume that you need to sign in to see this facility...

Replying to myself - the first sign of madness?
I missed the links at the bottom of the page, so obviously I did not need to sign in...doh!

I too am totally new to Wiki-ing? Used Wikipedia a few times, but that's all ! I've just tried to add a link to the test page. Saw the link briefly, then clicked on 'save' and it disappeared...! So definitely haven't got the hang of this at all yet.....

Sadly I won't be there Thursday evening, but have a great time. If you don't mind a short (10 - 15 minutes) bus/cab ride out of the city centre the Prince of Wales in Moseley was always my favourite when I lived in Birmingham. I believe it's reputation is still very good and the ales are well kept. A number of good balti houses close by too.
My favourite in the city centre (the real ale bar of the Midland Hotel) is sadly no longer there.

I still struggle with the appropriate choice related to application. At one time I could not see the point of Blogs in an institutional (as opposed to personal) context and used Wikis - now I'm more disposed towards Blogs. The edges are too blurred - I think the Web world would be a simpler place if someone would stand up and say "well, they're pretty much the same actually". Just IMO of course...

... and I seem to have created a new page by accident. Never seen a wiki before (except the great Wikipedia) but my feeling is that this feels like a blog. Are blogs wikis or are wikis blogs, or both/neither? But then I don't blog at all.

AUP = Acceptable Use Policy? Or is it a greeting from Yorkshire folk? :) - this gives me a chance to try the comment feature out.

Like many others I am new to the world of Wikis but am interested and willing to learn. I wish I could say this for other people. What are the best ways of getting people to engage with these tools? What is the response to the comment "But I always do it this way"?

Hope you find somewhere good to meet. I'm close enough to Brum to find it more convenient to commute, and far enough away not to be able to recommend anywhere to go! So feel free to mark my comment as "not helpful", if you want the exercise. (However, in suggesting this, is my comment helpful? The dilemma is yours!)

At the moment there's a sea of options! I don't know the significanec of any of them, other than if I click something and put in some text, then perhaps the text will be saved. I would like a "best path" through, so that I don't have to guess!
